Andrés Rincón

Biography

20 years IP experience, focused on patents, plant breeding rights and regulatory affairs related to chemical synthesis and biological pharmaceutical and agrochemical products. JD in Law from the Pontimcia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia 1998), with specialized studies in IP of the Universidad Externado de Colombia (2002), scholarship holder from the AlßAN program of the European Commission (2006) and LLM in IP from the Max Planck Institute and the George Washington University, through the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center, Germany (2007). Andres has successfully intervened in the most important cases of compulsory licenses, patent validity and infringement, both before Colombian and Andean courts. His main areas of expertise are innovation, drafting, prosecution and litigation of patents and industrial designs, Life Sciences, plant breeding rights, and test data protection. Is an active member of different patent committees before AIPLA, ASIPI, AIPPI and ACPI, last in which he is the current representative from Colombia before the Biotechnology and pharmaceuticals committees. Top ranked lawyer by IAM 1000 Patents, Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, Latin Lawyer, Best Lawyers, Who is Who Legal and Leaders League. Fluent in English, German and Spanish.
